Again - Kingston, NY service was OUTSTANDING. JFK - nightmare.
The service here has always been great. Barry and Amanda should win awards for their customer service! They are polite, accommodating, friendly, and fast. Whenever I rent here the door is opened for me to enter, and they greet me by name. I don't rent anywhere else!
I made a reservation for a car the day before...on my way to repair shop the next day I received a call from Enterprise telling me that they were not going to pick me up and did not have a car to rent. I ended up walking to work from the repair shop and calling Enterprise a couple of hours later. They told me then all they had was a cargo van or a pickup truck to rent. I was stuck 12 miles from home and told them to come with the pickup truck. The pickup truck was a ridiculous Ford pickup that I had to climb up to get into. I am 6ft2in tall and had much difficulty getting into and out of this vehicle. It drove like a Mack truck. I do not plan on ever using Enterprise again when I need a car rental.
If I could give Kingston 5 stars and JFK 1 star, I would. But they only let you submit one rating for the whole experience.
Absolutely great service from the Kingston Office. Professional, friendly, efficient staff. They had me on my way in no time. I wish I could say the same for the JFK Airport staff where I turned the car in, who made the experience a nightmare. The woman who accepted the car from me noticed a long scratch on the back passenger door, which was there when I received the car and clearly noted on the rental agreement from Kingston. She started to fill out some kind of damage report and asked me for a copy of any police reports I had. I told her to look at the original rental agreement, but she said she couldn't, and that I'd have to talk to her manager. Even then, she said, they would have to confirm with Kingston that the scratch was already there, DESPITE IT BEING RIGHT THERE ON THE ORIGINAL RENTAL AGREEMENT, which she wouldn't look at. Since my wife and daughter were already on the shuttle bus waiting for me, and I had an international flight to take, I did not have time for the shenanigans. Two weeks later I finally got my final receipt via email from Enterprise. It was correct and they apparently saw that the damage was done before I ever got the car, but this could have easily all been avoided had the Enterprise employee at JFK airport just taken one minute to do her job correctly.
I'm so sorry I don't know any names, but everyone was wonderful, from the driver who picked me up, to the manager, to the woman who went over the car with me. My own car broke down and this Enterprise office just saved the day, with availability and excellent customer service. I would work with them again and again and again.
Excellent and efficient service at counter. The only issue was that the Hyundai Accent was a total no frills car. I don't think I have rented a car in several years that didn't have cruise control, but this one didn't. Suggest going up at least one step in car appointments.
